At the time I signed up I thought I was picking a monthly plan with no commitment. I tried to cancel 3 weeks later and the owner (who appears to be the only employee) told me I chose a plan with an annual recurring monthly payment and that basically I was out of luck because he won't cancel my plan until the year is over. He keeps pointing me to their "Terms of Service" page on the website and refuses to talk to me any longer. This is also all over online chat because the company doesn't have a phone number, email or a physical address and the only support is online chat when he's available.
When I signed up there was no prompts that you read the terms and accept them. No buttons to click to confirm anything and they didn't even send me a receipt for the transaction at all let alone a receipt that showed the terms. I keep telling him I would have contacted immediately and canceled if it was more clear but again he won't even communicate and just keeps telling me that I entered a legal contract with him and that's the end of the story.
None of this seems fair to me. It's bad business and it seems deceptive to me. Do I have any legal rights? I am in CA and so is the business. Of course they have no address on their site and they aren't registered with BBB and when I asked him for the legal name and address of his business he ignored me but from his Linkedin profile I know he's in Los Angeles (which conveniently is where I live). What are my next steps. This is over a $20/mo subscription so I don't want to pay more legal fees then it's worth but at this point he has pissed me off so badly that I want to do anything I can to make his life difficult and put him out of business.
